Display Modes
LinkCAD offers several display modes to help visualize CAD geometry clearly.
Fill Mode
Toggle between filled and wireframe rendering with Ctrl+F or View → Toggle Fill.
- Filled (default) — polygons are drawn as solid filled shapes with their layer color
- Wireframe — only polygon outlines are drawn, useful for seeing overlapping geometry
Color Overlay Modes
Access via View → Color Overlay:
| Mode | Description |
|---|---|
| Opaque (default) | Each shape is drawn as a solid color — shapes behind are hidden |
| Translucent | Shapes are semi-transparent, revealing geometry underneath. Overlapping areas appear darker. |
| Hatched | Shapes are drawn with a crosshatch pattern instead of solid fill |
Translucent mode is especially useful for checking layer alignment and spotting overlapping geometry.
Background Color
Change the viewer background via View → Background Color:
- Black (default) — high contrast for colored layers
- White — better for screenshots and documentation
Array Interior
View → Toggle Array Interior controls how array references (AREFs) are rendered:
- Show all cells — render every cell in the array
- Outer only — render only the boundary cells, leaving the interior empty for faster display of large arrays
